Why Wear Your Baby
1. Free Hands You are able to care for other children and attend to other tasks while wearing your baby in a wrap, sling or other carrier. 2. Less Crying Babies who are worn are known to cry less while snugly attached to their caregiver. 3. Discreet Breastfeeding Breastfeeding is easy and discreet when you can cover up with the tail of the sling or with your wrap. 4. No Stroller Strollers can be tough to lug around and often don't easily fit where you need them. Wraps and slings are lightweight and when your baby is attached to you, you don't have to worry about carrying a stroller on the bus, subway or in a crowded shopping center. 5. Get a Workout Wearing a baby is like a workout while you do things that you need or want to get done. While out on a walk, you are carrying that extra weight. This can act like a workout. In fact, I didn't lose the final 10 pounds gained during pregnancy until after I started babywearing and then it just dropped off. In a wrap or a sling, your baby is at eye-level with most people or at least can look at the world from a better vantage point. Baby isn't looking at everyone else's knees and can observe and learn more. You are also better able to communicate with your baby while they are close to your face and you can see them and talk with them easily. 7. Safe and Secure In the wrap or sling, your baby is safe and secure. You can see her and know if she is too hot, too cold, upset, happy, etc. If it is cold or wet or windy, you can even use the wrap to better protect your child from the elements. 8. Bonding Babywearing is a great way for caregivers to bond with the baby. Dads can snuggle close to a happy baby and strengthen that bond of parenthood. |
